How do you pick your girls & Liquid Wishlists

I’ve had a few requests to take photos of my (ever-growing) doll family and as I look at them on my shelf… it got to me thinking… was there a theme? What makes me pick my dolls?

I have a pretty eclectic mix of girls (Blythe and Pullip) from the crazy candy-coloured Dal Joujou to the extremely serious looking Pullip Galene. My Blythe girls range from some smiley and grumpy customs to serious girls like Bianca Pearl.

I worked out pretty quick that for Pullip, I pick girls because of their stock, whereas for Blythe, I pick girls because of their hair. It’s quite easy compared to Blythe to change a Pullip Wig (where is re-rooting seems to be a rabbit hole I don’t want to try!).

How do you pick which girls to buy?

One of my major problems though are my “Liquid Wishlists”. I’m pretty good with my budgeting to allow me to put some money aside for my hobbies, so I always have a wishlist that I am working towards. The problem though is that they’re liquid… as in, I would save for one girl before deciding I really wanted a different one. Dangnit! And then I still want the previous one! haha such is life.

~~Blythe Marrakech Melange~~ (I broke the cardinal rule with Marrakech. I really loved Alexis, and I thought Marrakech would satiate my wishes.) Nah, I really love Alexis. So I traded a few other things to find Alexis.

Also, I chose Blythe because of their stock…and hair. Sometimes both, sometimes just one or the other. My wishlist is pretty small. The Sanrio Blythe, Lorshek Molseh and Punkaholic People. One of these days, I’d like to find a customizer to take on Nada, and that’s about it, really.

  That’s a nice manageable wishlist!!! I really can’t wait for that Sanrio girl. I wish I hadn’t gotten the Blythe guidebook as now I’m looking at all the old girls and marvelling at them.

    Trust me, there’s more I want but the chances of getting are slim. And while my list seems manageable, you need to take into account that I have 11 Neos and 3 Middie! XD

    I’m on 12 neos (including the girls travelling to me, but not including those under construction and to be sent away) and 2 middies! (The first arrived from Mandarake yesterday. That shipping is INSANE… and OMG so cute).
    I used to think Blythes were funny-looking. I no longer thing that apparently hahaha. They’ve taken over my Pullips!

liquid wishlist is a good term… I guess the biggest deciding factor for me for wanting a blythe would also be hair style and color. Uniqueness is also a factor. I feel the same way about Spright Beauty.

  I saw a few good photos of Spright but I think I decided I wanted a whole many more girls before that haha. That sanrio one though is very near the top of my list hehe

Oooh. Which middie arrived? We should combine forces and make the ultimate EVIL BLYTHE ARMY! Muahahaha!

And I agree, you need a family photo, because I didn’t realize you had that many! I need to step up my game! 😀

  Cherish me always arrived! She’s got the same hair colour as Les Jeunette :). We would have an excellent Blythe army! I might technically have 15-16 Blythes, but 3-4 of them are in my doll workshop getting new faces and the like, so I don’t like to count them 😀

    Only one of mine is waiting for a body… finch. I harvested her bits for Thindy, so she needs a scalp and an eye mech, so I might as well buy a fake.
    Still torn between black or green hair, though. Now, if I was able to get a punkaholic, I’d swap out faceplates on her, which would take care of two things at once.

I too usually decide on hair colour and cut. I seem to go for girls with bright, bob length hair so they can model my hats lol
My wish list is pretty liquid too – at the moment I’m after a Mrs Retro Mama. But the price is kind of putting me off, sadly 😦

  After I pick up this next doll (which wiped out half my list) I think I will need to go on a dolly diet. Retro mama is adorable! Hopefully you will find her at an affordable price.
