Introduction to JerryBerry

Before I received my Welcome Winter girl (now called Snowberry) I was mournfully thinking that I would never be able to receive a limited edition JerryBerry so I put in an order for a Basic. She took 3-4 weeks to make, and arrived at my door last week. I’d like to introduce to you the ‘basic’ Berry.

Very Berry Strawberry

I say ‘basic’ with inverted commas because I guess the only thing really basic about her is her outfit. She’s still as gorgeous as any JerryBerry, with her expressive eyes painted in a thousand paint strokes, pouty lips (showing tiny teeth) and little worried eyebrows.

It was the first time I bought a doll from JerryBerry directly, and I have to say I was so grateful for them sending me a few gifts for the beginner collector.

Besides well-packing my doll and sending me the two pink clothes I bought (extremely affordable by the way!) they also sent me some tiny headbands, clips, and hair ties for my girl!

Very Berry Strawberry

You can see her here peering mournfully out of her box. I couldn’t keep her there for long before I slid her out. On a side note, how adorable is the illustration on the back of the JerryBerry box? It’s the exact same one that I received for my Welcome Winter. I love all the cartoons of the releases that came before.

Berry has an extremely interesting head where her wig attaches. Unlike a Pullip which has screws, or a Blythe which has screws and latches, Berry’s back plate is attached on via magnets, making her supremely easy to de-wig and accidently de-scalp if you put her back together weird.

Inside the face, you can see a message written by the artist as a sign of authenticity.

She also comes with extra hands that you an pose her with!

Here’s a picture of her in her box. She’s packed well, with the secret compartment when you lift her out of the case.

The basic JerryBerry doll comes with cute burgundy leather shoes, white thigh-high socks, an orange uniform dress sewn onto a white shirt and purple ribbon, and a caramel-brown bob cut wig.

Her eyes are different to Snowberry’s, being a ocean blue compared to her green. Undoubtedly though, they are both Berry, but I like to think of them as different reincarnations of themselves.

Very Berry Strawberry

I couldn’t wait to give her a new outfit and I promptly ordered her a new wig (on the way!).

Very Berry Strawberry

JerryBerry seems dangerously addictive. I am completely in love with her spaced out little face, and how weirdly expressive she is even though her eyes do not move and are painted on. Also… I think I might love this basic version more than her Winter sister.

Two Berries

You can see how their face-up’s differ here. I also never realised how pink Snowberry’s hair was in comparison!

Two Berries

Berry (now Strawberry) has a bit of a problem standing. She’s got a slouch. Unlike Pullip, she does stand up by herself, which is lovely, but the girl’s got bad posture, that’s for sure!

Very Berry Strawberry

Check out how she stands here – only using a little bit of door as structure! Here she is next to my super cool 1:6 telephone booth that I picked up during my super-tourist day in London.

Hello Friend!

It makes an awesome photo prop that’s for sure!

I'm not stealing lollies!

I will now take a moment to appreciate how lovely it is that she can sit without leaning on something at the back, without doing the panty-exposure shot ala Pullip and Blythe big-heads! She’s holding some Rement there (trying out her clutching hands)! I just also wanted to take a moment to marvel at how cheap the outfit she is wearing is bought from the JerryBerry website – her dress was $7.50, and her cute jumper $8.50.

Amongst the Camelias

My camelia tree was really going for it last weekend dumping all of it’s beautiful pink flowers onto my lawn. It did make for some nice photo opportunities though! She’s in shock I made her stand in the wet flowers not 1 hour after she was deboxed!

Look out! A Monster!

Check out how she stands! She was shocked again as I introduced her to one of my favourite plushies. I guess he does look a little scary!

Can I pet you?

At least she reached out to pet him!

Two Very Berry Friends

They really are such wonderfully beautiful dolls. I love both of them lots! I have a Penny Flower on the way as well (also bought in another one of my panics!). I would love to add a Jerry there, but now I know that each release is a little different, and I need to wait for my perfect one!

Very Berry Strawberry

This girl seriously looks like she things everything is astounding…

JerryBerry dolls can be found (some on the second hand market) and on the JerryBerry website. They release special dolls every season which they open for pre-orders for a short amount of time – below we have the 2015 Spring Release… cute. So cute.
