The Hook

Nana-Chan by Les Jeunette on Flickr

There’s the first doll that you own – in my case a Hatsune Miku Pullip – and then there’s the one that gets you addicted. I had two when I really fell into the rabbit hole. My second Pullip doll was a Serenity Sailor Moon – another gift. One of my previous childhood loves was Sailor Moon, and when Serenity arrived at my doorstep I was completely fascinated by her delicate lace layers, her floaty dress and ridiculous high-heeled pumps. But I wasn’t hooked – yet.

It wasn’t until I saw a picture of Nana-Chan on Pullips and Junk that I felt a little tugging. She was absolutely adorable! Little cat ears! A nighty! These tiny gorgeous socks because she was an indoor cat. After she arrived (and I pre-ordered her) I was completely enamoured by the Pullip world and began scrolling through Flickr looking at these dolls with ridiculously pretty faces.

Nana-Chan was followed by a Byul Secomi – a second choice to the sold-out Kiyomi, and Christmas arrived with Nanette and Galene. Very soon my hubby had a little shelf space dedicated to my growing collection in an attempt to control it!

Which girl (or boy!) was your hook?
