Meet Marina! A girl with a lot of sass~

This weekend, after a few weeks of making Pullips I jumped back on the Blythe wagon again to practice those skills.

Todays lesson – freckles!

Blythe customisation is a fickle and somewhat violent process. -Unscrew, unscrew, give to husband to pry open, pop open eyes, drill, sand, sand, sand, sand, dremel, sand, sand, sand, melt gluestick, gas mask, spray, sand, sand sand sand, soak, sand sand, sand- (reverse).

I was having a lot of fun with this one. It was experimentation and having a whole lot of fun. I painted her eyelids this blue and purple gradient and sprayed it with pearly sparkles using the airbrush.

Although I was quite happy with the carving, this certain pastel colour was not behaving with this plastic as well as it used to, which was frustrating. I had to give the plastic many coats of sealant before it started working out better. Where I originally had soft pastel lips, I had to paint them because of the non-cling around that area. Weird.

This factory doll had a much much much harder plastic than anything I’ve worked with before. It was like I was trying to sculpt like Michaelangelo. My friend’s Cadence Majorette which I helped her carve was so much softer!

She’s still a spunky one this one. She’s using some brainworm chips and twiggy twiggy pull rings. She has some wicked winged liner and too many freckles from being under the sun. Olive has helped by giving her the name Marina, which is what she will travel with for now!

Marina is off to travel, packed up and ready to go to her new home! I hope she has fun there ❤
