Thalassa holds the record of being the girl that has travelled the furthest to visit my workshop. Coming all the way from Chile, Thalassa is an Selkie who thinks she is a mermaid. She started her life as a Merl Nostalgia, and she came my way to match her personality (and her awesome eyechips) with a new face-up.
Regeneration Merl has a very pink-based face-up. For Thalassa, I wanted something peachy toned to complement her dazzling eyes, and something that slightly lent towards the greens in her chips – but not too much. The face-up also needed to stay neutral enough just in case she ever wanted to get contact lenses or visit the hair salon 😉
Here she is with her wig pulled back a bit so you can see a bit more of her face-up. I used a sepia base for her eye base (which hinted towards the blond), some brown on the edges, and greys (like a stormy sea) towards the base.
The eyelids have been painted in a metallic swirl of silver, blue and greens and glitter. Making these eyelids is like a party of glitter and mica! It’s meant to resemble the ocean and crystals when the water hits the surface!
I tried a few lip colours on her before I settled on a bright cherry red. She’s wearing the wig that she came with (how gorgeous is that cute little bow) and her own dress. I love how Thalassa is on a Pure Neemo body. It seems to suit her quite well.
Thalassa will be travelling back home tomorrow accompanied by an Australian snuggly-surprise and, I also made her a deck chair in my studio (dodgy picture below… I only had my phone on me…). She was meant to come visit the Australian beach with me but I haven’t made it to the ocean. So, I decided to pack a bit of ocean to go with her!
The deck chair flat packs like a real deck chair haha and has 3 adjustable positions! (Wow, I am so sorry about the quality of that picture….)
Thalassa has been a very welcome visitor at Project Dollhouse, and I hope her journey home is safe!
I’m sure her mummy will spoil her!
On another note, It’s Blythecon Chicago this weekend! I’m looking forward to all the pictures! I’ve already gotten one of Marina visiting the Chicago Pebble (the jealousy is real, I’ve always wanted to see!).
I’ve also recently gotten back into one of my other loves (stationary) and have been having awesome fun doodling all over my pages again. I’ll have to show you guys how I organise this blog and the illustrations.
On another note, I have three more upcoming customs which I am really excited about. I’ve enlisted the help of Belle Magni and to help me make some outfits for them (and she’s sent me some sneak peeks… oh man, these girls are lucky ones!! I cannot wait to show you!).
I’ve also finally gotten around to opening a Instagram account – so please come find me on @jannmakesthings 😀
