Q-Pot has always been one of my favourite fun fashion brands from Japan. I’ve been a fan of their keyrings, not even mentioning their adorable collaboration with Sailor Moon. So when Milk BisQuit de Q-Pot Blythe came up for sale, I jumped on the opportunity to own this sweet, sweet girl.
I first learnt of Caramelaw after seeing one of her creations on the front cover of the Doll Scene by Louis Bou. I was completely enamoured by the whimsy and the fun of her gorgeous girls. They had a certain style and panache – they were clearly from another world and bursting out of an illustrated candy land. So when Sheena Aw aka Caramelaw asked if I could help her doll home from Auguste Clown, I of course readily agreed. So – for a short few days I had a very special visitor, and I’d like you to meet miss Meilla.
At 5am on my birthday I was slumped against my studio wall (I hadn’t gone to sleep yet) and I was wondering about my life decisions (I complain but I do love my work). Exhausted, I realised that a box had arrived… and boy did it make my day! I think of her as a birthday present to myself … everyone – meet Plum.
Oh man. I’m looking at my blog post calendar in my planner in shame. It’s been 1.5 weeks! I’ve had 4 posts planned in that period of time, but work has gotten the better of me (work, not even life! 1/3/4/5 am days, boo to you!). The weather has also been horrible, making it horrendous for doll work and sealant – and happy photographs. I’ve been a mopey lady the last week, the husband has even commented. A non-dolly me is a grumpy me it seems :D.
One thing that did perk me up though, was when Britt got to visit for a few days.
I’ve had two Simply Peppermint’s and each time, I can’t bond to them. So, I sent them both off to get a new lease on life, and the first came home this week – Juniper (I named her Juniper meaning young and evergreen). Juniper was sent to the talented Christine at Forty Dolly Winks and I asked her to have fantasy coloured eyeshadows… and a secret little smile.
I’ve never quite fallen in love with a girl before she was even announced. Junko Wong posted a sneak peak of My Melody back in January, with her big fluffy ears and bright pink hair… and I was completely smitten. She’s an adventure to get this girl, but she’s full of snuggliness, and I understand that weird name “Softly Cuddly you and Me” – she looks like she could give you a good hug. I’d like to introduce you to the newest girl in my collection, and the one I’ve had to jump through the most hoops to get.
Pic heavy because I think I have a duty to share her – she’s a rare beast at the moment.
